Specifically for the health care and nursing sector, as well as for other fields of application where hygiene is of importance, e.g. for the food sector, Lauffenmühle has developed the permanently antimicrobial fabric Biotec Silver with Bioactive from Trevira. The functional fabric not only protects patients but also nursing staff from infections spread by bacteria.

LONG-LASTING & EFFECTIVE

Biotec Silver has a permanent antimicrobial effect. Silver ions are already integrated in the polyester fabric and are thus spun into the yarn and remain in the fabric over the long term. Biotec Silver is therefore suitable for industrial washes – without losing any of its antimicrobial effect.

PROTECTION & HYGIENE

The bactericidal effect of the silver ions contained in Biotec Silver inhibits the growth and spread of microorganisms, offers protection from pathogenic germs and safety from viruses. These extremely antimicrobial properties of Biotec are linked to the silver ions bound up in the fibre. The organism of the bacteria is destroyed when it comes into direct contact with the silver – thus markedly reducing the overall growth of the bacteria that could cause infections. This goes for the wearer of the fabric as well as for people nearby. Particularly in hospitals or old people's or care homes, in which the immune sytems of the inhabitants are already weakened by illness or age, the use of Biotec Silver offers an extremely important protective function.
